Every purchase is really one or two prices combined: the diamond itself, and — if you're building a ring — the setting. Our ring builder shows both separately in your order summary before checkout, so you always know exactly what you're paying for each.
Why diamond prices vary so much
Two diamonds that look identical to the eye can carry very different price tags. The 4Cs explain most of the gap — cut quality, colour, clarity, and carat weight each move price independently, and none of them move it in a straight line. A 1.5ct diamond isn't 50% more than a 1ct of the same quality; it's often closer to double, because larger rough stones are rarer.
Certification also plays a role. GIA and IGI grade reports set an independent, verifiable standard for a stone's quality — the price follows the grading on the report, not a figure we set ourselves.
Natural vs lab-grown
Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, optically, and structurally identical to natural diamonds, but their supply is manufactured rather than mined. That difference in supply means lab-grown stones typically sell for significantly less than natural diamonds of the same specifications. Neither is "better" — the choice comes down to budget and personal preference, not quality.
Prices track a live market
Diamond prices move with the wholesale market — supply, demand, and mining output shift over time. Because we source live inventory rather than holding fixed retail stock, the price you see reflects current market conditions at the moment you're browsing. A diamond you save today may show a slightly different price if you return later — that's normal, not a pricing error.
Setting price
Ring settings are priced by metal type and design complexity. Platinum costs more than gold, and a pavé or halo setting with accent stones costs more than a simple solitaire — see our Metal Guide for how each metal compares.
Payment method matters
Paying by bank transfer earns a discount off your total order compared to paying by card. Your checkout total updates automatically when you select that payment method.
