The challenge of sizing
Ring sizes vary slightly across countries, and every finger changes size throughout the day, the seasons, and stages of life. Getting the right size matters — too tight and you can't wear it, too loose and it slides off.
Method 1 — Use an existing ring
If you already have a ring that fits the same finger:
- Place the ring on a ruler
- Measure the inside diameter in millimetres
- Compare to a sizing chart (we provide one in your order)
Common reference sizes: - 16.5mm = US 6 - 17.3mm = US 7 - 18.1mm = US 8 - 18.9mm = US 9
Method 2 — String method
- Wrap a piece of string snugly (not tight) around the base of the finger
- Mark where the string overlaps
- Measure the length in millimetres
- Divide by π (3.14159) to get the diameter
- Compare to the chart
When to size
Measure at the end of the day, in normal temperature. Fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold — a morning measurement may give you a ring that's tight by 4pm.
If your fingers fluctuate significantly, size up slightly — a ring you can spin loosely is preferable to one that won't come off.
Ordering when unsure
We provide free resizing within 6 months for all ring orders. If you're unsure, we recommend ordering at the size you measure and adjusting if needed once it arrives.
For surprise proposals, we have separate guidance — borrowing a ring from their jewellery box and tracing the inside is the most reliable approach.
