What this means
Many ring settings pair the centre stone with smaller accent diamonds along the band or halo. Where that's the case, we set premium-grade melee (well-matched colour and clarity, properly calibrated cut) as the standard — not a lower grade with a paid option to improve it later.
Why we don't upsell it
Mismatched or poorly cut side stones are one of the most common ways a beautiful centre diamond ends up looking worse in the metal than it did in isolation. Treating that as a baseline standard, rather than a line item, is simply what "fine jewellery" should mean.
Which settings this applies to
Any setting in the ring builder or fine jewellery catalog that includes side stones. If you're unsure whether a specific piece qualifies, ask us before you order and we'll confirm.
